Observation Point via East Mesa Trail – 7 miles, out and back, Easy/Moderate.
This hike leads you to Observation Point, offering stunning panoramic views of Zion Canyon, including Angels Landing. I would strongly recommend this hike as it will get you away from the crowds and offer arguably the best view of Zion.
Getting There: Map from Springdale- You will enter Zion National Park and take Hwy 9 through the tunnel. You can take your own car as you are not driving through the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. When doing my research, it was recommended to take a shuttle to the trailhead due to rough roads. I ended up taking the shuttle, but in hindsight I don’t feel it was needed. If you get there early and have a decent vehicle, I wouldn’t be afraid to drive to the trailhead. The shuttle was $7 and left on time and picked us up on time, no complaints. Here is more information on the shuttle. Worth noting- if you take the shuttle, it will add .5 miles each way onto your hike.
Highlights:
- Breathtaking views of Zion Canyon and Angels Landing
 - Relatively easy hike, suitable for most fitness levels
 - Less crowded compared to other trails in Zion

Things to Know Before You Go:
- Parking can be limited at the trailhead. Arrive early or use the shuttle service offered by some companies.
 - The road to the trailhead can be rough and may require a high clearance vehicle, especially after rain.
 - Wear good hiking shoes as the trail can be sandy and rocky in some sections.

Zion Canyon Overlook – .9 miles, out and back, easy
This hike leads you to the scenic Zion Canyon Overlook. I wouldn’t technically call this a “hike” because you basically pull off the side of the road and go for a little walk to the end. This is great option when you’re first getting to know the layout of Zion National Park and it is worth the time.
Getting There: Map- From Springdale– you enter Zion National Park take Hwy 9 through the tunnel and look for a parking spot along the side of the road. There will be a lot of people.
Highlights:
- Rewarding Panoramas: Iincredible views from the top, comparable to viewpoints from more difficult hikes like Angels Landing.
 - Easy Hike: Perfect for families with young children or casual hikers, with some gradual inclines but manageable sections.
 - Distance and Time: The trail is short, around .9 miles out-and-back, and can be completed in under an hour.

Additional Tips:
- Be Prepared for Crowds: This trail is popular and can get crowded, especially during peak season and around sunrise or sunset. Arrive early or consider going at a less busy time.
 - Parking: Parking is limited at the trailhead. If the lot is full, there’s street parking nearby, but be prepared to walk a short distance to the trailhead.
 - Spurs: There are several other options along the side of the road to go explore. I even saw people just randomly walking in areas where there are no trails. This is unique area and worth exploring!
